PAL DVD getting ejected

Running Mac OS X 10.6.8, NTSC DVD setup.

PAL DVD (just purchased from UK) is getting ejected every time I put it in. Can't even get to the stage of trying to rip the files with MacTheRipper or something like that.

Any ideas?

Is it launching DVD Player, or just ejecting the disk straight away? If it's the former then you'll need to go to System Preferences > CDs and DVDs and set it to not launch DVD Player (or force quit once it pops up).
