Does iMovie HD v.6.0.3 support widescreen in the PAL format? I live in Ireland.
When iMovie launches and I select DV Widescreen in the dialogue box, the app opens like this:
However as soon as I connect my Camcorder (Canon MV890) the screen changes to this:
So not only does iMovie change the format from NTSC to PAL, which is correct. It changes the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 which is incorrect. And worse still there doesn't seem to be anyway to change it in the settings.
The Canon MV890 records in true widescreen. As can be evinced when I attempt to make a Magic iMovie. The app still sees the input from the Canon as 4:3, albeit 'squashed' looking. However, on completion of the Import it then (time-consumingly) converts it to letterbox, like so:
I don't want to view my home movies with black borders on my widescreen tv. Am I missing something? Please tell me I can change the settings.
