We were looking for the best app to sync with Palms (Tungsten T), and looked at Entourage, iCal, or sticking with Palm Destop (4.1). Looked at quite a few posts in here, and thought I would give others our reasons for sticking with Palm Desktop for now.

In Entourage, the things we didn't like:
We couln't find a way to import directly from Palm Desktop using the Import Assistant (as the help says will work). Had to sync from the Palm -- irritating since some things are lost.
Couldn't show only uncompleted events due today in the Tasks Pane (as the help says it will) rather than all uncompleted events.
Couldn't get the filters in custom views to actually work, such as for events in the next week, or events in a particular month.
Couln't sort tasks in the tasks pane by priority or date.

In iCal, things I didn't like:
When I first synced my Palm to iCal, it only brought over my highest priority to-do's, not any other categories (high, medium, low, etc).
There is no support for memos, so I have to open Palm Desktop to look at those.
I can't search in my to do list.
I can't show my to do list for a different date range than I am looking at in my calendar (like see the calendar for the month but to dos only for the week).
I can't show to do's that were due a month ago without showing all my to dos for the entire future (or taking off the date entirely).
I can't do "+", "-", or "t" type shortcuts to set the date for a to do (as I can in Palm Desktop).
I can't autoforward the due date on a to do.

Also, a minor nit, I'd like to show banner events as a single banner, rather than having them be separate ones on each day.

So, we're sticking with Palm Desktop for now (it's working fine for us with 10.3.2 -- no install problems on a G4 even though I've seen that others have had those.)

I'd love to hear if others have found ways around some of the limits of iCal, or if I was missing something. I'd really like to go with all the Mac apps (Mail, iCal, etc) -- we're using Mail and Safari, but so far I just can't live with iCal.
