I have an external Panasonic 106D and my wife uses it. Over the years, it stopped working although it is still recognized by the machine. Is there a way to upgrade the driver or firmware to get it working again? I looked at the Panasonic website where I only found an .exe file. Unfortunately, the drive is not recognized in windows 8, so I can't update the firmware on that platform.

Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Sadly, it's probably dead. Luckily they aren't very expensive any more. You could probably find a good Samsung or something similar for around 40 bucks.
