Panasonic FZ38 / MacBook Pro / SCHD

I've just bought said camera which also shoots HD movies in AVCHD Lite.
I can preview these movies with the memory card in the camera but not from SD slot on my MBP . (it will show photos taken).
Any suggestions please.

Currently Mac OS X is not really supporting native playback of AVCHD encoded files without prior transcoding it, for instance via importing into iMovie.

Not really - They dont appear ( as far as I can see ) on the sd card when in my Mac but clearly are somewhere as I can play them through the camera??
