Hi Folks,

Just wanted to confirm my thought process here:
objective: to create i-device h.264 files, DVD ready files and possibly Blu Ray in the future

of what: kids' soccer filmed on my Panny TM900 in 1080i60.

I've been transcoding the mts files with ClipWrap to ProRes 422.
Once edited, I'm outputting a 'current settings' (1920x1080 Prores 422 file) b/c the games are much shorter once I've edited out the garbage (ie. waiting for throw ins, goalie kicks etc..) :) I'm keeping 1 file per game and dumping the clipwrapped files due to their size.

My thought is that this prores format is suitable for the above needs? I don't really need to do LT, HQ etc... (based on my research anyways?).

Thought I'd ask to confirm.

Thanks,
Keebler

Are the ProRes files you are creating self-contained or QuickTime reference files?

I see no problem with what you are proposing. At home, I regularly cut, export to QT ref then make an M4V for the AppleTV (720p) and throw the originals. Having a ProRes original means you have a higher quality original with which to do other things.

Thanks! I'll continue as is :)
