Panasonic VDR-D160 and OS X

Hello. Not sure if this is the right section, but I was given the above camcorder as a gift, and I am not sure if it is possible to connect it directly to my iMac to download the video (it records onto mini DVDs, which are no good in the iMacs dvd slot). It has a USB2 port, which suggests that it can, but it didn't come with a cable, and I don't currently have a compatible one to try it with. There is a sheet detailing how to connect to a PC, but no mention of Macs. Does anyone know i) if OS 10.4 will automatically recognise it and ii) if it can then take the data from the camera. I think it is possible to record the data onto my HD recorder, then burn it to a DVD, but that would be extra hassle, so if anyone has used this particular model on a Mac, I would be grateful for any information you might have.
