Have mercy
I ´ve had my new iMac - my first mac ever - for nearly two months. A website (Norway) tells me that Panda Security is out with an antivirus/security program for mac against virus, trojans, keyloggers, adware/spyprogs.
My question is simple: Do I need this to protect my mac?

While Panda is a good company, the $50/year price tag makes it a no for me. There's no viruses and very few trojans and other malware to be worried about on Mac, and often user common sense will protect you as much as most of the anti-malware software.

That said, if you also have Windows machines on your network or send emails and such to Windows users you may want some software to help. There are some free options, such as ClamXAV that scan for mostly Windows based malware and will keep you from further spreading infected files, even though they can't harm your Mac. iAntivirus is another free app that focuses on the few Mac malware items that exist.

Thank You for responding.
I ask because there is a heavy discussion in the websites forum and I just dont have the knowledge to judge.
