I forced quit when updates were installing because i was in a hurry and now whenever i try to start up i get an error message telling me to restart. However, when i restart i just get the same error message again. Something about ´panic´ and there not being a driver.

Could anyone please help me with what i should do??

Sorry, that would be helpful i suppose!

It says ´panic´´unable to find driver A.C.P.I´

At the bottom it says something like ´Kernal...Platform 8.8.1´

I´m stuck in spain in an internet cafe and my macbook is back in the flat, sorry i can´t be more exact!

Any ideas? Or would you need more info?

If you force-quit whilst an update was installing it is more than likely you have caused a system critical file to be half written which will prevent booting: do an archive&install from an install DVD.

Right, ok, will try and give that a go.

Am pretty computer illiterate when it comes to these things! Will that wipe music, photos, films et al that i have on my computer?

Thanks for the help!!

No. Your user data will be preserved, as long as you check the Preserve Users and Network Settings option when installing.

If you just do a system reinstall (not a clean reinstall), all your files should remain intact. I pretty sure that's the default installation.

Am just getting around to doing this now. Can anyone tell me exactly how i do a system install? When i put the disc in nothing happens, just the error screen...

Hold down C while you boot up the computer to boot off the disc.
