Hi all-- hate to post a question that most likely has been done to death by you guys, but I didn't have any luck w/ the search function...

anyway. I'm a musician/engineer, running cubase sl 1.06 on a dual g4 1.25ghz w/ 768 ram, an 80 gig oxford FW400 hard disk for audio that's about half full right now (and defragged every week at least), and an ipod.

This is a very new machine-- delivered on new years day-- and panther's been rather glitchy over all; doesn't like to recognize when blank media's been inserted, itunes stops seeing the CD burner sometimes, etc. I'm figuring I should just do a clean reinstall sometime soon, but...

why oh why does the machine keep ejecting my FW disk? it's especially troublesome during sessions where I'm recording and the disk immediately ejects itself. cubase is NOT pleased, I have to revert to backup files, and it creates a mess of temp files scattered all over.

any suggestions on what to do, or why it's happening?

my thanks in advance.

Dave
