Hi all.

My parent's USB Pantum P2000 printer is picked up and seen by MacOS High Sierra. However when I try and print I get a message saying 'waiting for printer to become available' even though it is doing nothing.

Does anyone know how to get it to stop waiting and start printing?

Many thanks.

M.

I had similar with an old HP DeskJet 930C and it was because the printer wasn't supported - looking at the drivers it only goes up to 10.9, so maybe old and not compatible with HS..

I wouldn’t expect to be able to even see the printer if it wasn’t compatible.

True - and that's what I through with the DJ930c - but there it was and gave exactly the same issues as you're seeing - the waiting for printer to come available.

you could try installing the 10.9 PPD and see where that gets you, but could have dire consequences.

I would suspect that if you've upgraded, that there are still legacy driver files and that's why you are still picking it up, it's just the interface between the OS and driver that's failing.
