I had on the first generation paper like screen protector and it had small lines that made the iPad look matte and pixelated. I just put on a second generation paper like screen protector from Bersum and it’s much improved. It feels like paper when using the pencil but has a slight gloss and no screen degradation. I think it’s good if you value the sharpness of the naked screeb but want that feel and extra protection.

are you sure about no screen degradation, plus how about apple pencil usage do you notice any scratching marks onto the screen protector what about colors because no matter what matte screen protectors will always separate colors awkwardly

You can tell there is a screen protector but that corse pixel looking issue is gone. I don’t see any scratch marks on it Yet. It’s a definite upgrade to the originals.

Agree completely. I’ve had one on since the 2nd gen came out at the start of the year (I think? Certainly several months) - it’s held up very well and I use my pencil all day, every day.

It’s an excellent protector; the balance between texture and clarity is very, very good. Bonus is that it stops fingerprints almost completely, which more than offsets any slight degradation in clarity.

I had Paperlike 2 on an iPad Pro 10.5 but honestly cannot see how it differs from some of the much cheaper matte protectors.
After less than 6 months the texture started degrading considerably without using the Pencil much. They made me jump through all sorts of hoops cleaning the protector (generally a good idea to remove grease). When that didn’t help they did not send a replacement but simply told me to apply the second protector that came in the package and use that, “to see if there was a manufacturing defect with the batch”. The idea was obviously to bring my warranty claim (as per EU law) out of the time period where the seller was responsible for proving that there is indeed no manufacturing defect and then to subsequently reject all my claims (we are still talking about two sheets of plastic for 30 bucks).

Given their ****** CS, for my new Pro 12, I got a pair from Mumbi (a German company) for 9 Euros (including VAT) and it has the same visual clarity, texture and feel of the Paperlike 2 at less than a third of the price. Unlike the PL2 I was able to apply it without any bubbles at the first try. And previous experience with the company (got their matte protector for the iPhone 6, 6 plus and iPad Air 2) tells me that I can expect at least the same (and actualllevel of durability from the Mumbi protector.

Paperlike 2 is heavily overpriced imo without offering anything that differentiates it from generic products. I am pretty sure that their operation is just a front for reselling stuff that comes out of China like the rest and that no original engineering went into any of their products (their terminology is just bull....).

I would urge anyone in the market for a matte protector to just get one or two of the best rated alternatives off of Amazon and compare for themselves. You will not be disappointed - or if you are, you‘ll likely be disappointed by the PL2 as well.

Mine is a off brand and I’m pretty sure its the same as the real one.

Yep. I would even go so far as to refrain from calling the Paperlike 2 ‘the real one’. Matte protectors existed way before even the Paperlike 1. All they did was rebrand and resell an already existing product in conjunction with the release of the Apple Pencil.

I just received my PaperLike 2 for my iPad Pro 12" today. The protector does seem rather generic for the price premium. The package does indeed say "Made in China" on the barcode sticker. They made it sound as though this was German made.

Applying the protector and scraping the bubbles out made many small scratches in the protector surface. That won't make much difference in the feel of the protector with the Pencil, I hope. I'm not sure the loss of resolution is worth it--I can perceive a kind of oil-sheen, rainbow effect over the whole screen.

I'm not going to go through the hassle of returning the two sheets, but I would take the advice of others above and get your protectors from elsewhere.

Check out the following video to see what the screen looks like after use. I have a feeling the generic brands of paperike are the same way.

I have never bought a paperlike screen protector. All of them are called paper like because they are trying to feel like paper. In my eyes they are all the same but the second generation ones coming out are much nicer. Generic or not I don’t see a difference. No need to get all Karen in here due to a word.

Bought mine and had a long wait. Installation wasn’t to bad just a few bubble. I used for a couple of months but I’ve removed it now because I did not like watching videos or showing pictures through it, seemed a little too much fogginess, not as sharp as my 4th gen 12.9 can be.
