A very cool app came out yesterday that I want to tell you guys about. It's called "Papers" and it is a scientific pdf article reader and repository. There is a desktop version of this App, called Papers too, and it functions as an iTunes for all your pdfs. If any of you have scientific article pdfs on your computer (you're a scientist, engineer, doctor, professor, etc.), then this is a must have. Myself, I have over 600 medicine-related pdfs and this software keeps them all organized and searchable.

Now, the Papers app for the iPhone gives you the ability to carry all these pdfs around with you - all organized and ready to read. I actually helped with the beta testing (but have no other direct relationship with the developers) and it is a very cool app. You can use PubMed and other article search engines (ADS, arXiv, Google Scholar, JSTOR, Web of Science, etc.) to search for articles and then you can directly download them onto your iPhone. The program also syncs with your Papers desktop application. It took about 20 minutes, but I sync'd about 650 pdfs onto my iPhone. Once you have them onto your phone, you can them view them, takes notes, or share them via e-mail.
