Hi, all. Something I've been curious about, but didn't find anything that specifically said yes or no. Does anyone know if Parallels, when virtualizing an OS, uses actual Video memory, or main memory?

Windows in a VM only adresses the video card via its own drivers. This extra layer is what causes video to be slower in the VM than when run native.

Basically the answer is both. The Parallels drivers hand off what needs to be displayed to the Mac OS X video drivers which display that using VRAM (assuming you have a discrete video card).
