Looking at getting a new base model 13" MBP but I need Windows to run an older program I have. I have a retail purchased copy of Windows 7. Will the cheap (non subscription) version of Parallels work OK along with Windows 7 on the base MBP? I used Bootcamp before but Bootcamp doesn't support Windows 7 anymore. I have no experience with Parallels. Any helpful insight on this would be appreciated.

People have been running it fine for years, especially for programs that don't have intensive graphics. I used virtualbox and windows 7 to run office 2010, and it worked fine on a 2010 15" MBP.

Are you tied to Win7 for your older program, or is it your preference because you have a purchased copy? If this isn't common knowledge (wasn't to me), you can install a copy of Win10 for free to use in Bootcamp. I would think native Windows would be preferred to Parallels?
