Running Parallels 6 on 10.6.8 ,
one issue when I plug in a external eSATA drive (NTFS)
it's seen by OSX but not in Parallels Win 7 ?

I don't think Parallels virtualises eSata devices so you can't connect it directly to the virtual machine. If you want access to it, you'd need to set it up as a shared folder in OS X. Also, if you want read-write access to it you'll need to either reformat it (losing anything that's on it), or install something like the paragon NTFS driver for OS X
