Parallels Desktop 7 optimal settings for MB pro

Hello,
what are the settings for best results.
MB pro 2.2 with 8 gigs of ram. magnetic hard drive

1. using light programs
2. graphic intensive and high ram demanding programs

I was wondering what thoughts are out there about this.
Video ram defaults at 256MB, but I am not sure if it has the best setting.
#of CPU cores?
