Parallels requirements

Hello - I've been looking to use Parallels 7 on a MBA that I will buy soon. I have two small questions:

1) Can Win 7 run fine in Parallels? Will it be smooth?

2) Is Parallels CPU heavy, RAM heavy or both? I think I'd be using it a lot, so I'm debating the 8Gig MBA if it's necessary.
