Hi All,

I have been browsing the watch complications and came across this gem!

I've a few questions:

Q1) Does this 'find your car' thing work in multi story carparks? I.e. does it take you the correct level?

Q2) Does it work in areas of bad signal? e.g. underground carparks, where cannot get phone signal etc.

Q3) Why does it need bluetooth with the car?!
- Shouldn't it just need GPS co-ordinates, for when you come off 'I'm Driving' on the iPhone?
- I've skim read a few Posts on this forum, which talk about bluetooth settings.

Hope you can advise

Kind regards
Martin

It’s 2-D navigation. It knows nothing of elevation, nothing of stories.

It depends on your device knowing where you are, which typically means a GPS signal (though it can do a rough triangulation from WiFi in certain circumstances). If you don’t have a signal … it’ll do its best, but there’s only so much it can do.

If you connect your iPhone to Bluetooth, it’ll recognize when you turn the car off and use that as a cue to mark your current location as where you parked. But you can also use Siri to set your parked car location: “Hey, Siri: I parked here.” (Note that only iPhone Siri can do that; Watch Siri will complain that she’s too blinkin’ stoopid to help.)

Despite those limitations, I’ve generally found it to be quite useful in practice. Save for one time when I forgot which level I parked on, it almost always gets me right to where I can see the car; the few remaining exceptions, it’s gotten me close enough that I could use the car’s remote to beep the horn.

Don’t overestimate the feature.

It simply notes your GPS location when the paired car Bluetooth goes away.

If you don’t have GPS signal, it ain’t gonna work.

Its not gonna tell you what level you’re on either. it’s meant for finding your car in an open air parking lot at Costco or Sam’s Club or the mall or whatever.

in a parking deck, just take a picture of any signage giving your location or floor if you can’t remember it.
