iOS Partial UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp

I have been asked to create the animation effect that google maps uses on the bottom right of there tool bar. Essentially it looks like a view transition using UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp but it only curls half of the view and keeps the effect of a curled page showing some more buttons and options laying underneath the page. I was wondering if anyone has found a way to produce this effect with the current sdk and if so could you point me towards the right direction?

Hopefully apple will remove the NDA soon so this platform and applications can grow more rapidly.
