I just bought an external USB 2.0 160G hard drive. I have an intel Imac with bootcamp. I would like to partion the drive, so I can install a copy of OS 10.4 for an emergency startup drive... for this what format would I need for me to be able to boot?.. I know my older externals with my emergency system dont work now since I went to intel.... AND... since I have bootcamp.. I'd like the other partion to be able to be used as an external on the XP side... what format should this partion be in? and lastly... will I be able to use this partion on the mac side and drag files over to be used by XP, since I do a lot of editing, I hate having to burn to DVD-RWs and then booting up XP, pain in the butt..

Please help, it would be appreciated.

HFS+, A.K.A. Mac OS Extended (journaled)

That depends. FAT32 if you want the Mac to read/write to it. NTFS if not. Or HFS+ & MacDrive for the Windows install.
