Partition drive or separate user accounts?

Hey everyone-quick question. My wife and I are moving to one shared MacBook pro instead of each having one (due to iPad). We would like to each be able to log in to our own profiles. Should I create a new user or partition the drive?

We have separate software, iPhoto, and iTunes libraries. What are the differences between the two routes (other than a reboot)?

iPhoto and iTunes are separate for each user so two users should be just fine
