Partition error 49153

I'm trying to partition an APFS encrypted disk using Disk Utility. Disk Utility throws up the error:

APFS Container Resize error code is 49153.
A problem occurred while resizing APFS Container structures.
Operation failed...

Is anybody able to help with this?
