Hi,

I have a 1TB external HD and use it for time machine as well as to hold all my movies, programs and other data on. over 300gb of this, therefor I cant copy it to another source as this would take days and would like to split it into 2 partitions;

1st
Size: 500GB
Format: OS X
Description: Media and data

2nd
Size: 500gb
Format: OS X
Description: Time Machine

Currently time machine sucks up the whole 1tb but I managed to turn off time machine and delete all the backups over night.

I've tried disk utility and it can't resize without wiping because my external HD uses a master boot record (MBR) although the HD is formatted for Mac OS X I believe.

Could anyone please help?

Cheers!
Luke.
