I have a 500GB HDD that I use for storage only. It has over 350GB free. Can I create a 50GB partition without deleting the data that is on the drive?

Thanks, I read through those pages, but I still can't tell for sure if it will work on my drive. I guess I will just copy everything just in case anyway. Thanks for the help.

Disk utility will do this with no problem. Click the + button under partitions and you can change the size of the new partition without affecting the startup disk

I couldn't get it to partition without erasing everything. I'll try to remember this next time though. Thanks
