After erasing my Lion partition, I am left with free space above my SL partition. However, I can only expand existing partition downward.

How can I move my SL partition, so I can expand downward and utilize the free space? See picture:

So what can I do? Can I create a new partition where the free space is, boot up SL, then transfer everything from old partition to new partition?

Setup the free space as a new partition. Use SuperDuper/Carbon Copy Cloner to clone partition 2 onto partition 1. Startup from partition one, delete partition 2, extend partition 1 to the full size. You can do all of this without needing to boot from an external drive or reinstallation disc.

Ok cool. I will try this.

Thank you so much! This worked perfectly with no problems! :)
