I have a mid 2010 MB Pro 15". I just recently partitioned my 2TB external that is used for Time Machine backups only to create a small 2nd partition for a bootable installer of Mt Lion. Now, I am trying to do one last Time Machine back-up before I upgrade my internal hard-drive. But it is taking exceptionally long (2 MB in 2 hrs and 1GB in total to back up). Could this crazy reduced back-up speed be due to the new partitions???? It didn't even run this slow on the initial back-up.
I have done a few things to my computer in preparation of installing the new internal (i.e. installing Mt. Lion, renamed the Macbook back to the original name b/c Mt. Lion changed it after the MLion install, also deleted a dormant/generic user profile that has had no files but has just been on the computer since purchase b/c I used Migration Assistant to bring my old G4 profile onto this notebook 3 yrs ago and had just left the generic profile on there). I have no idea why it's taking this long. It has been stuck at 2MB for 15 mins now.
