partitioning external hard drive

hi there
i have a 2 TB external H/D
i am formatting it from pc to use for my new MAC
that much i can do

but new to mac
it wants to know if i want to use it for Time Machine which i do

but if i say yes can i also use it to file away manually

or
should i partition some space for Time Machine and leave rest for manual use

if so how much to partition

Yes, you can use a TM HDD for storing other data, as TM stores its data in one folder, leaving you plenty of space to create your own.

If you want to partition the HDD, maybe make it 1TB for TM and the other 1TB for your data.
