So, say I go to Gamestop, and have my PowerUp rewards card in Passbook. As far as I know, you have to swipe the card. Do they have something already that would allow me to use my phone? And for most other stores?

Like, is there something that most stores probably don't have that is needed to use passbook?

They would need to have a scanner to read the passcode display automatically, or type the information manually from that display.

Chances are, like Keyring, some stores will be able to get your info from your phone and others will not. Harris Teeter can scan my keyring app, Petsmart cannot. It varies.

Wait, so any store that can scan those little 2"x1" card I put on my keyring can use passbook?

Any store that has a scanner can use it technically. It is not NCF technology, it just displays a QR code or a standard barcode which has to be scanned.
You present your iPhone in place of the actual card, which they scan.
