I have been using mu iPhone 3GS for some time now without a hitch until, when asked to enter the four digit passcode, it told me that my passcode had expired and I needed to enter a new one. None of my colleagues who have the same phone have experienced this issue. If I try and 'Change Passcode' and set the phone to the old passcode (I prefer this one as I can remember it more easily), it says "this passcode has been used too recently".
Has anyone else stumbled across this issue and is there a way of getting back to my old passcode? I have looked in the Prifiles installed on the phone and none of them (2) seem to have ant restrictions/conditions associated with passcodes.

This can happen if you have corporate exchange policies applied via ActiveSync: Are you connecting to a corporate exchange server? If so, then you'll have to sort it out with the admins of the exchange system

This usually happens with profiles installed, check the passcode section of the profiles for any passcode history settings. That'll tell you how many unique passcodes are required. Last resort, remove the profiles.

passcode expired - solution

Many thanks for your replies. I have just been informed by our IT Dept. at work that they have actually set a time limit to passcodes on our work iPhones - they forgot to tell us all! I assume that this is part of the Profiles that they have loaded on the phones. I cannot get access to these without an administrative password, so I will just have to try and memorise a new passcode every 180 days! No chance.
