Passcode lock bypass for IOS 5

Do you guys know if there is anyway someone could bypass a 4 digit PIN lock on an iPhone 4 running IOS 5.x? A friend lost their phone, it was locked at the time and was concerned there was a way to bypass the pin lock.

Not that I'm aware of. I've tried several thing to no success.

It can probably be restored but all personal data would be lost in the process.

There is no passcode bypass, and if there was we wouldn't tell you how to do it here.

If the phone is not set to wipe after a certain number of attempts the correct passcode will eventually be entered. Did they try to wipe it? That takes care of any risk.

Law enforcement has always been able to get the data off iPhones once they have possession of it. The exploit from the article you linked allows software to bypass security controls and brute force the password. A strong password will extend the 2 minutes into "do we really want to do this?".

There was just an article it can be unlocked in like 2 minutesor something with software.
