Is there any way to Passcode protect unauthorized use of the Apple TV? This would prevent unauthorized person from charging programming [ movies ] to the account holders charge card. This unauthorized activity is possible on many many apps in the Apple TV App Store. When you are "signed in" anyone can use your sign. This unauthorized use also changes the algorithm's apps use to suggest shows that are of no interest to the account holder. Is there a device that can be used to prevent authorized access? People have suggested unplugging the Apple TV box and locking it away to prevent this.

you can set up a passcode for purchases on the iTunes Store. As far as the rest of what you're asking for, I doubt that will ever happen. You are too worried about that.

Set up a second user profile as default and not associate a chargeable card with that user. Then these people wanting to make purchases would have to log in as themselves and charge their own cards.

When you want to use the AppleTV, login as your own user profile in which you have access to your favorite apps and easy purchases/rentals. Password protect your login so only you can login with it.

This would be like sharing your Mac with others. You use your own profile/user ID when you use it. They use a DIFFERENT user ID when they use it. Without being logged in as you, they could not surprise you with unexpected charges.

Option 2: if this is for perhaps some kind of rental situation, perhaps you should pick up one of the stick-type variations from Amazon or Roku or similar and let that be the "AppleTV" for the rental space.

That’s still going to change the algorithm that he has set up. What he needs is two or three different accounts on all his apps.

I'm not saying he logs in as himself in this other profile. These other people he references can log in as themselves... and thus pay for whatever they want to watch. Think guest accounts where he and his preferences are totally separate from guest.

If these people share OPs space, leave the AppleTV in guest ID mode most of the time. Switch it to his own ID when he is using it himself. When he's done, switch it back to guest ID. Others would then have no ability to buy anything on his dime... though they could buy things with their own login credentials.
