Passcode won't work on my wrist

Just got an Apple Watch 4 GPS today - when I enter the passcode while it's on my wrist it will only accept two numbers - when I take it off it will take all 4. Did I get a lemon? Could it be the touch screen is an issue? Also, had a Zagg screen protector put on as well, is this an issue? Anyone else have the same problem? Seems like there's a couple other things with the touch screen as well on a couple of other apps.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen someone say that some screen protectors won’t work if your watch is on too tight because of your body temp messing with it or something. Hence why it works when it’s off your wrist but not while it’s on, so try loosening it a bit
