is there a simply key command that can log me out of OSX or start a screensaver so that anyone who walks up cant access it. Currently the screen saver starts 5 minutes after inactivity, and if I log out fully it closes my apps. Any way just to suspend with a password?

I hope this is what your looking for

Open KeyChain Access application, View -> Show Status in Menu Bar

Once you have that in ur menu bar, select lock your screen option from there..

I use this all the time.. i hope this is what you are looking for.

Actually if you go to Screen Effects in System Preferences and chose the Hot Corners tab. There you can select which corner(s) activate the screen saver immediatly and which prevent the screen saver from coming on. The prevention corner is good for watching video.
