I just upgraded my imac to OS X.4.2 and now when I turn it on it asks for a password. I never had a password using OS X 10.4. Can anyone help?

Yeah, but would that still be on the hard drive even though I've just had everything erased and the opperating system rebuilt?

You said you upgraded. This is an important point, if you upgraded rather than erase and install then all your account details will be the same.

Thanks for that. The OS needed to be re installed so I had it done this morning and everything was erased. The old OS on the Imac was 10.4. I was going through the various stages of upgrading, installing 10.4.1 etc. When I had downloaded and installed 10.4.3 then reboted it now asks for a password. I am baffled. Hope you can shed some light.
