I was wondering if there is an app out there to password protect certain apps. It would be nice to be able to require a password to be able to access my mail app, Facebook, Tapatalk, instagram, etc. anyone have any idea or suggestions??

There's an app for that called Applocker but you'll need to Jailbreak. I jailbroke my phone and will never go back.

Wouldn't just putting a passcode lock on your lock screen be sufficient?

Not always. I know some people who let their kids use their iPhone for playing games occasionally, and they don't want them accidentally getting into those apps and posting random statuses or sending gibberish emails.

Yes, you can lock the phone with the 4 digit code.

But, I see a good use to lock just certain apps. There must be a way?

Apps cannot interact with other apps in this way. It isn't possible without jailbreaking.

Restriction of the iOS, without JB its not possible.....

Restrictions are based on the App rating, G PG PG 13, etc...and only some specific stock apps can be enabled/disabled.

I also would like to know if there is something else out there without jailbreaking ?

This isn't a "parental controls" restriction. It's a sandboxing limitation/restriction. Applications cannot change how other applications operate. Simple as that.

Jailbreaking is the only way you can change this. There is no other way.

Like mention that blocks by removing all access to the until reenabled....
