I've been working in the windows world for 30 years. Since I retired, I decided to learn Apple systems. I bought a ipad, macbook air, and recently a mac mini. I have the same email in my Apple ID on all 3 and the the same pw on ipad and mac mini. The macbook has a different pw and I've attempted to reset the macbook pw to the match the other two. After a few frustrating attempts with no luck, I decided to question folks that know a lot more than me. Please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

The Apple Account password is the same, no matter where you use it.

I assume that what you're trying to change, is the Mac LOGIN password - which has nothing to do with the Apple Account email being used. For that, reset steps are here.

More info would be helpful to help you. Where does the process seemingly go wrong? And what happens that’s not expected?

I want to thank you good folks. I guess I skimmed over the login vs apple ID passwords too fast. I've noticed everything is "if you've forgotten" in the info writeups. Lucky I haven't forgotten any, I just need to get a better understanding of the terminology.
