I was just wondering if there is a way so that the computer only requires a password after the lid is closed and than opened and not from when waking with the lid open and pressing a button.

Thanks for the help!

All it has in the Security tab is "Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver"

So i am guessing that that is the ask for password thing, but that is for both of them, not one or the other.

When you close the lid, you ARE putting the computer to sleep. It is the same as select Sleep from the Apple menu with the lid open. Therefore the password security applies to both.
