After issues with DVD writer I decided to just do redo of system. Now when I go to log in it will not accept my password I have been using for over two year and have not made any changes to it prior to redoing system. How do I get around this?
I am using Leopard and was up to 10.5.4 when I redid the system.

Can use the restore disc to delete the password, this method if you cannot find your restore disc.

restart your computer, hold down Command-S.
( Basically, you hold down the command-s key when powering on. The command key has a little apple symbol on the lower left. It is between the alt/option key and the space bar. On a PC keyboard, it will be the windows key, I think. )
When you get the prompt, type in the following:

/sbin/fsck -y [Enter]
/sbin/mount -uaw [Enter]
rm /var/db/.applesetupdone [Enter]
reboot [Enter]

Or there are some hints on Apple's site for Leopard Install problems which had a password issue listed.

Thanks guys, but I get

rm /var/db/.applesetupdone [Enter] No such file or directory

and the Leopard disk will not let me change the password for log in. Keeps telling me to go to keychain to change log in password, and I can not get to keychanin to do it, guess I just will erase and redo the whole system. Its been giving me issues of not letting me burn disks and giving me all kinds of errors.

Your response was very much appreciated.
