I am planning to upgrade both my own phone and my wife's when the new phones come out next month, if the "Plus/Pro" version turns out to have a really stellar camera. My wife will be getting the 6S, since having a missing 3.5mm jack will drive her nuts apparently. I've been watching past sales and prices, but can't find any predictable or regular method of determining when deals come out. It seems sporadic sometimes...

For example, right now you can BOGO with the iPhone 6S with a few carriers in a deal which effectively locks you into a 2 year agreement (if you plan to get the full value of the phone credited to your account). That's cool with me, but has anyone ever seen something like "Buy the newly released iPhone, get the past gen free" in whatever scheme?

Thanks for any tips! It'd be great to not pay full retail on ~$1500+ worth of phones...
