I tried to copy and paste a photo into one of my threads, and I kept getting this error message...

Code:
Oops! We ran into some problems.
The submitted message is too long to be processed. Please shorten it

This happened with an image thatw as only 160KB which is pretty tiny in today's world...

Also, every time I pasted a photo it showed up TWICE.

The photo I was finally able to post was 120KB but it appeared as a thumbnail and not the original file size...

If you C&P a photo into the editor, it will both upload as an attachment and be inserted full size in the content.

If you select 'Attach Files' using the button, after it's uploaded, you can select to insert it into the content as either a thumbnail or full size.

In either case, there's an attachment, which can be optionally added into the content (i.e., inline with other text, etc.), so it sort of looks like it's there twice. If you don't insert it into the post content itself, it just remains an attachment at the bottom of the post.

So that post, I see like this:

BTW, that's a 997K photo that uploaded just fine.

Okay, I didn't know that I could upload and then choose to display the imagine inline in the post.

Either way though, the issues I pointed out in my OP still exist.

1.) When I copy and paste, the *full image* is appearing twice, PLUS it shows up as an attachment.

2.) I couldn't copy and paste an image that was a mere 160KB so that is very limiting...

On item #2, it __almost__ sounds like maybe you're getting some additional meta-data pasted in of some sort. I mean, if you add a file that's too big, it generates an error during the upload, for example, I just tried to add a 20MB JPG to this post, and got this:

Yet, I can easily C&P, or D&D, or select 'Attach Files', a ~2MB (i.e., 2000K) file with no issues during the upload, and it posts no problem (removed for the sake of the thread).

One thing you might think of checking out, after you add the pic, toggle over to the raw BBCode using the gear icon at the far right. So like I just added a photo (D&D'ed), and I'm going to toggle over:

All I see if the basic text I entered, and an "attachment tag" referencing the upload:

I'll try uploading photos in the future, but in the past the method I chose easily worked for photos up to maybe 2-3MB.

So I'd say something is broken that didn't used to be...
