pasting inside folder issues

many times when I try to paste items inside a folder they end up 'siblings' to it , I do that when I make the folder active by selecting it by mouse , and also same happens when I'm selecting a child item/file ..

sometimes as well when I'm copying items and try to paste I find the paste menu option 'dimmed' , when means theres nothing to paste .. does purging memory has something to do with this ....

this is driving me nutttttts , I'm not used to this , as Im coming from a windows env... please help!!!

What do you mean by "siblings"? Please use computer terms that are common.

Are you copying and then pasting in the same folder or a different folder?

Not sure why Paste is dimmed. Maybe your description of what you're doing will help.
