I don't know where else to go to ask this. I'm on a macbook pro with snow leopard, 10.6.8. I can not find how to edit the path. I'm not an expert but i know my way around and i still can't find anything on it. I googled it but everything was around 3 years old. Help anyone? Know of a better place to ask this question?

I assume s/he is talking about the Unix PATH environment variable. It's normally set by editing your .profile or shell specific (.cshrc, .bashrc etc) configuration file.

Thanks, didn't know that. Would have been nice to be mentioned by the OP, but I guess, knowledgable people are ... knowledgable.

So if i want to add a folder to the PATH how do i do it? I did "open -e ~/.profile" or something like that and added the code that someone said needed to be added. But it didnt work, when i do "echo $path" i don't get the new path in that.
