My friends told me that you have are charged a fee everytime you use the iphone browser. Is this true?
No, if you use it without WiFi, that takes minutes off of the data plan.

So if I use the EDGE Network, the minutes come off the calling minutes?

As long as you have the iPhone Data plan, then your internet usage is unlimited and is covered by the $20 cost of the plan.
The plan is standard with all iPhones on AT&T, unless you called them and managed to get it removed somehow.
So you can only use the browser over EDGE if you pay $20 a month?

This happened to me! I called to downgrade my voice plan and they eliminated my data plan. I'm on prepaid, but had the unlimited data. After I had called them with my voice plan changes, I noticed it was costing me a few dollars of credit to view a few pages!![]()
There are no minutes. EDGE data use is unlimited with an iPhone data plan.
Well, you have to have a data plan to use data services from AT&T (read: EDGE). I was under the impression that you had to have an iPhone data plan to use an iPhone on AT&T at all. Unless you get rejected by their credit thing and have to do pay-as-you-go or something, but I don't really have any experience with that.
