Not sure if this has been discussed yet...

If rumors are true and iPhone release day will be Sept 21st, that means for those of use who purchased the iPhone X on release day last year, will still have to make an additional TWO payments to be able to qualify for an upgrade. I just logged into my AT&T account, and checked my NEXT 12 plan. My next bill is due Sept 16th, making that the 10th payment. So it looks like I’ll have to make a $147ish payment a few days before pre-order day on the 14th. I assume Apple’s iPhone Ugrade Program works the same.

Has Apple or any of the carries who offer such plans mentioned how they plan on addressing this? I’d be happy if they forgave at least one of the month’s payments for the loyals who upgrade every year on release day. After all, it wasn’t our fault Apple couldn’t deliver on time last year.

More than likely all of the carriers and Apple will do the same thing and require 12 payments before upgrading. Maybe Apple will announce the phones next month and release them in November like they did last year.

Here in the UK on EE the annual upgrade has to be on the 2nd November so therefore I can not upgrade til 2nd November. It’s a bummer but the way it is.

To get it on launch day I would need to buyout my contract which is a huge amount which obviously I won’t do. Will just wait 4-5 weeks

I just went to the apple store and checked mine (because I wound up buying it about 2 weeks after launch last year), and it’s showing me I’m ready to upgrade. I think I’ve made 12 payments, since you make the first at purchase. The August payment I just made would’ve been my 12th.

Thing is, I have someone who wants my current phone, so I’m trying to figure out the best way to handle that.
