I am new to the world of pbs and I have a quick question. When I first got the pb, I calibrated the battery just as Apple advises - charging it fully, discharging it fully and then charging it fully again. During that process the battery percentage went to 100%.

Recently, when charging my pb the battery level will stay at 99%, even though the indicator says "Battery is charged." Is this normal?

Yup

Sometimes, when I charge my battery it will go up to 100%, but then after a few hours (still plugged in) will drop to 99%

I think that it prevents overcharging or some such damage to your PowerBook's battery.

That seems to be the case. It's great that they do that, but I wish they would tell us overprotective fools so we don't worry too much! :D
