Hinges broke, first one then the other.

PB continued to work no problem for another month.

Then on startup. POST as normal followed by grey logo screen then blackout.

After approx 10 attempts, grey logo screen no longer appears after POST, but black screen with variable 2-5 pixel-wide horizontal band across full width of display.

No external monitor at moment to test hardware output so any symptom recognition and thoughts appreciated.

Just to add, PB works fine, boots into TDM, so I'm thinking either cable or LCD. Any usual suspects?

I think you answered your own question. Once you have something that is that damaged it is harder to pinpoint the issue. It is most likely the connection to the LCD that has been broken somewhere

An update...

Finally hooked up ADC monitor (using DVI adapter) and here's what the PB does:

POST - ok
Grey screen - ok
Apple logo - NO
Leopard 'nebula' background image loads but that's it, no further in boot process.

Any ideas, pleeease???

Weird...tried rebooting it and now I have video!

All seems to be working perfectly.

So, LVDS cable at fault? Or should I just bit bullet and source complete display assembly?
