Ok, so awhile back I posted that I was asking for help getting my PB apart to replace the hard drive. I have one important question left to ask.
Does anyone know if Knoppix reads HFS filesystems (like the one Tiger uses) so that I might be able to put the old PB hard drive in my PC (I have the adapter), and use Knoppix to mount the drive, then copy the important stuff in the "Documents" folder over?
Anyone tried it? I don't have a spare mac, just an iMac and a PB, I'd rather not buy an external HD enclosure unless I need to. But I have a couple of PC's and I have an adapter to put laptop hard drives into normal ATA ribbons and such. So physically, I can connect the drive to a PC, now I just need to find software that can read the drive before it is totally shot. SMART didn't warn me soon enough.
