Still here.
So a friend of mine got the old "?" Folder upon booting his 17" PowerBook G4 and asked for my help.

Upon booting to his OS X Installation Disk, I can see that the hard drive does not appear in Disk Utility, Startup Disk, or the Installer itself.

I tried zapping the PRAM, booting to Safe Mode, etc. No help there.

Now, I've done a few searches (here and on Google) and it seems like his hard disk may have crapped out, but I don't want to tell him the bad news if there is a chance that may not be the case.

So my question is what else can I try to verify that this is the case? I would hate to have him spend his money on something like this if he doesn't need it.

Thanks! :)

Is that your way of saying that there's nothing more I can do in terms of resurrecting this hard drive?
