I have a 12" PowerBook that I would like to use as a Home Automation server.
It would have to stay running 24/7. I would have to screen go to sleep but the HDD would never sleep.

Would leaving the PB running constantly be a problem
What about heat
It would sit on a desk with a cooler pad.

Thank you for your help. :D:D:D

Might add to your electric bill, but running the notebook 24/7 shouldn't be a problem if you didn't abuse it in the past. You can set a schedule for start up and shut down or even in sleep mode so it's off during the hours you're sleeping. I do that with my G4. G4 sleeps from midnight to 8:00 am. :)

Test

:D Thank you for your replies.
I will get a cooling pad with fans.
I have it set to shut down during sleeping hours at present.
But when I'm away for a week or two, I want to leave it running so that I can monitor my home.:)
Once I get the cooling pad; I'll run & monitor it for a couple of weeks as a test. Then I'll post again with the results.:cool:
